3 days along the Loire River: from Tours to Saumur

Itinerary
Day 1 : Tours - Villandry - Azay-le-Rideau
- 35 km
From Tours, reach the Cher river which will lead you to Villandry and its amazing French gardens. Take your time to explore all different gardens, all amzingly vivid! Then you will leave the river to enter the countryside to Azay-le-Rideau where you will spend your first night.
Day 2 : Azay-le-Rideau - Chinon
- 42 km
Spend the morning visiting Azay-le-Rideau castle & city. Then, take your bike and follow the Indre river to Bréhémont where the river joins the Loire river. You will run near Rigny-Ussé castle which inspired the one in Sleeping Beauty (entrance not included). Keep going until you reach the medieval city of Chinon.
Day 3 : Chinon - Fontevraud - Saumur
- 29 km
For this last day, follow the cycle path to Candes-Saint-Martin and Montsoreau, two cities labelled most beautiful cities. Keep going until you reach the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, where were buried some of the most powerful figures of The House of Plantagenet. The last part of the day will take you through vineyards, troglodyte sites, Loire river banks and then Saumur, where you will drop your bikes off.

Your trip:
Following the three different rivers, your will visit some of the most beautiful places: Villandry and its incredible French gardens, Azay-le-Rideau and its water mirror, and the Royal Abbey Fontevraud, last home of some Plantagenet.
How to arrive in Tours?
By train : Tours Station. Our partner is located at a 10min walk from the station.
By car: Highway A10, Tours-Centre/St-Pierre-des-Corps Exit

Fee-paying parking lots:
Parking Indigo Tours Vinci Gare (reservation available, about 90€ for 7 days) - at 160m from our partner / at 220m from Tours station
Parking Indigo Champ Girault (reservation available, about 60€ for 7 days) - at 700m from our partner / at 350m from Tours station
How to get back to Tours from Saumur ?
By train - from Saumur station to Tours Station: about 40min. / 10 trains per day.

Our hotels are accreditated Accueil Vélo (Cyclist welcome): they all have a secure bikes room to store yours during the night.
You will receive all your travel documents through an app to download on your mobile phone. It will contain every day itineraries and your e-tickets for the castles as included in your journey.
On the first day, you must arrive before 9:30am. If you plan to arrive later, please contact us.
On the last day, your luggage will be delivered for 5:30pm.

Bravo pour votre bonne organisation. Merci spécial à votre collègue Alexandre qui nous a guidé dans notre préparation du séjour. Merci aussi à Bérénice pour son aide (même si tous les Belges ne parlent pas l'allemand :)). Les logements étaient vraiment bien. Les lieux et paysages très appréciés! A bientôt peut-être pour une nouvelle expérience dans un autre tronçon !
